On the wall above the main church altar is a large crucifix. It reminds us that we break the Blessed Sacrament below on the altar in remembrance (Exodus 20:24, Luke 22:19) of Him who sacrificed himself on the cross, so that we might have everlasting Life (John 3:16).

There's a nuance of meaning between "crucifix" and "cross." Both are symbols of our Christianity. A cross is simply a pair of sticks or other lines crossed. The crucifix includes Christ crucified.
