"I am anxious to express my deep esteem for you... Without you, parish communities
would not only be poorer, but they would lack the essentials.
I therefore beg you generously to continue your apostolate as ... Eucharistic ministers."
-- Pope John Paul II in Salzburg, 6/19/1998

Who can join
Confirmed Catholics age 16 and older
When and where we meet
Other than occasional training meetings and the times we fulfill our ministry,
there are no regular meetings.
How we minister
Eucharistic ministers distribute communion at masses, and can administer
the Communion to the sick of the parish at Fairview Hospital, at neighborhood
nursing homes and to shut-ins. Eucharistic ministers are typically scheduled
to serve about 1 mass every 3 weeks. Schedules are drawn up every two
months, and allowances can be made if ministers prefer some mass times
over others, or if they know in advance they won't be available for one
weekend or another.
How to get involved
Phone the rectory at (216) 251-8286 to find out when the next diocesan
training seminar will be held. Then attend that session to learn how to
reverently handle and care for the host. After that, ministers are commissioned
together during a mass.
