New Business

Council and Ministries: Donna welcomed the new members on behalf of the current members, expressing our regret for not taking the time to welcome them properly earlier. Lynne Zullo discussed putting out a ministries newsletter, keeping parishioners updated on what the various parish ministries are doing. Informing the ministries representatives about this is an agenda item for next meeting.

We discussed the council constitution, and the purpose of the council as a ministry and in its consultative role of council. We also discussed changes to the meeting format and other ways to increase make council more effective and increase parishioner's awareness of and involvement with council.

Misc: Had a small birthday celebration for Fr. Hagedorn. We discussed ways the school might improve the yearbook. Discussed a request for volunteers to work the blood bank. Carol Masek offered to coordinate with Joanne Steele for the bank on Sept 16th of next year.

Social Justice: Fr. Hagedorn discussed the churches teaching on social justice concerns, how the way the church relates to the people in the world around us is a major part of our Christian mission as well as helping us to understand and live our faith.

Future Meetings: Scheduled the December meeting for Dec 20th; Mary Zavoda offered to read the closing prayer in December. Discussed inviting all parishioners to the February meeting, reminding parishioners throughout the year that council meetings are open meetings. Decision made to put council meeting minutes on the parish web site, placing some copies on the literature table for anyone to take with them.

Old Business

VPL II: Deacon Beercheck presented news on the VPL II clustering proposals. The current status is that they have been discussed and presented to the Bishop. Bishop Lennon has pushed back the planned date for responding to the parishes until February, so that he has time to study the details. Final approvals will also be pushed back, until June as the current estimate. Most of the proposals given to the diocese are substantially what the parishes wanted.

People in all parishes are concerned, in this parish particularly about the school. Council and parish leaders should be ready to respond to questions and listen to concerns.

In order to give council members a better understanding of VPL II, Lynne gave us copies of the VPL I questionnaire responses.

Servers: Fr. Greg has eleven new servers, some of whom have siblings who are or have been servers. Discussed the possibility of adult servers. Fr. Hagedorn told us about some parishes he knows where parents and their children serve together.
