Students first passed through the doors of the main school building in October 1930 The parish school had grown and was extremely overcrowded. It had been built for 125 students and there were now over 250. Plans were made to build a new 12-room structure that would also include an auditorium/gym.

The plans were approved by the diocese but the bishop insisted that a subscription of the parish be taken up before a loan could be made.

The organizational meeting for this campaign was held on Monday, October 28, 1929, the night before the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began. The effects of the crash were not felt at once, however, and the campaign got off to a good start with over $60,000 pledged by the end of the year. With this assurance, the bishop approved the loan, which was made with the Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association (LCBA). In appreciation for their good terms, Fr. Calvey allowed them to start a branch of the LCBA in the parish.

When the school year ended in early May 1930, the old school building was torn down. The new one, the current Main School Building, was built on the same site and its doors opened to students in October. Bishop Joseph Schrembs dedicated the new school on December 7, 1930.
